How to Jailbreak your iPod Touch

April 12th, 2008 . by Cameron

So you have an iPod touch, now what? Jailbreak, you say? All right. To jailbreak your iPod touch, you will need three things. Number one is an iPod. Number two is a computer (PC or Mac). Number three is 5 minutes free time.

Mac:

Step 1: Go down to your local Google, and ask it for iJailbreak.
Step 2: Download iJailbreak.
Step 3: Unzip the .zip file, and drag iJailbreak.app to your Applications folder.
Step 4: Launch iJailbreak, then click on “Jailbreak” in the top left corner of the window.
Optional Step 5: When you have jailbroken your ipod touch, click on “Install iPhone Apps” (right next to “Jailbreak”) to install Mail, Notes, Stocks, Weather, Maps, and Webclips to your touch. (if you bought the “January App Pack” you should not do this.)

PC:

Step 1: Go down to your local Google, and ask it for ZiPhone.
Step 2: Download ZiPhone.
Step 3: Launch the installer, follow the steps.
Step 4: Go to where you installed ZiPhone, and launch ZiPhoneGUI.
Step 5: Click on “Jailbreak” (2nd button down on the left).
Optional Step 6: To install Mail, Notes, Stocks, Weather, Maps, and Webclips to your touch:

1: Add the source http://ipodtouchmaster.com/files/repo.xml to Installer.app
2: Install the package called “iPhone 1.1.4 Apps.”

Note: To get rid of the “Z” logo on your touch’s home screen, you must either buy the “January App Pack” or complete Step 6, then hold any icon on your home screen until they all wiggle. A white X in a black circle should have appeared above the Z logo, simply tap the X to delete it. To stop all the icons wiggling, press the home button.

To Fix BSD Error:

Step 1: Disconnect your iPod from your computer
Step 2: Power down your iPod (hold home and sleep)
Step 3: Hold Home and plug in your iPod, Keep holding till the connect to iTunes screen comes up
Step 4: Use ZiPhone to boot in Normal Mode (on a Mac it is under “Mode” in the menubar)
